Washington Local School (WLS) board of education member Patricia (Patti) Carmean took a field trip yesterday to downtown Toledo. Instead of visiting the Imagination Station, or the Huntington Center to buy Toledo Walleye playoff tickets, Carmean had a different itinerary.
Patti Carmean tried to have Patrick Hickey arrested. The alleged crime: unwanted messages on Facebook.
Carmean is the widow of another former superintendent, Michael Carmean — the man who brought Hickey to WLS and groomed him to be his replacement.
Carmean’s morning didn’t stop with filing a police report with T.P.D. She also visited the Lucas County Courthouse where she filed a petition and was awarded a (temporary) Stalking Ex Parte Civil Protective Order (CPO). The hearing to review her petition is set for May 3rd at 3PM.
It should be noted that most CPO petitions are granted temporarily to air on the side of caution.
All this comes days after Hickey announced he was running for the school board in November. Carmean’s seat is one of three that are up for reelection.
After learning of Carmean’s second attempt to have Hickey arrested — I reached out to him yesterday before the CPO petition was filed looking for comment.
Hickey sent me screenshots of his Facebook messages. He was responding to recent comments made by Carmean on a Facebook post.

Hickey directly messaged Carmean immediately following the above exchange.
Here are the screenshots of the alleged exchange between Carmean and Hickey that led to another police report and temporary CPO.
