I recently interviewed local filmmaker, Larry D Williams II about his Indiegogo campaign for his upcoming film “Fire Power” which he is co-directing with fellow UT grad Nathan Volker.

They are looking to raise $6,500 for their ambitious project. They are seeking the funds to help rent and buy the equipment they need to make this locally produced film look and sound as great as possible. The perks available through the campaign that include everything from a ticket to the premiere of the film to signed DVDs and more. These are the gifts you can receive for helping fund the project.

“Fire Power” is feature film that started out as a youtube project for the filmmakers but they wanted to open it up to a feature film to help showcase Toledo’s acting and filmmaking talent. The film is an action thriller that follows two top detectives in Toledo that feel they are walking the right path but as they go the path becomes blury. “I think that seeing good independent films being made in a community that’s not a Hollywood film by people not working for Hollywood will open people’s eyes to the possibilities. And who doesn’t like an action thriller ” said Williams.

Still from the Project A Studios film “Fire Power”

Larry D Williams II went to the University of Toledo for film production and is very passionate in his love of the art form. Williams told me, “I think that making words on a page become a visual medium is amazing. The stories that you can tell, the things you can do, it’s all amazing to me.”

Through this project and others Williams said he wants people to be entertained.and with all of the bad things happening in the world right now, he wants to take people away from that even if it’s for only 30mins to a hour. He is hoping that this film is one step closer to his dream of building a studio in Ohio.

You can help his dream become a reality by donating between now and the end of the day January 24, 2015 at http://igg.me/at/firepower/x/326079.
