Baumhower: Thank You for ‘Hearting’ iHeartGlassCity

Written by: Jeremy Baumhower

Thank You to all of those who’ve been sharing Updates about Kaylee and her family. Yesterday, was visited by more than 50,000 people. It was the 20th most popular WordPress sites.. which there are millions world wide.

I have a vision of how media is changing. I know that people under 50 years old don’t get their information anymore from a daily paper, because it is outdated by the time they get it.

I created iHeartGlassCity for a couple of different reasons. I wanted to showcase stories that shed a light on something deserving in our area, either good or bad. I wanted to create a place for people to read new voices, meet the new minds that Toledo has to offer and see their art.  I also wanted an everyday home for my words.

After spending years on the radio, I realized I was always playing an exaggerated character of myself.  As obnoxious as I could be on-air, at home in my marriage, I was quiet.  I never shared what I was feeling, I never said “I love you” enough.  I grew up in a house that never did, seemed perfectly normal to live in a quiet home.  Five years ago while going through a divorce, I would find myself not being able to sleep because my heart physically felt heavy.  I have since learned it was words representing emotions I was trying to share.  My silence came at a price, fifty percent of the time I get to spend with my children.

I was never suppose to become a writer.  If you asked anyone in my life twenty years ago what I would be today… “writer” would definitely not be mentioned. “Comedian” or “prisoner” may have, but not one who shares his thoughts via a typewriter. I have been blessed to come from a line of good story tellers.

I have discovered that my true talent is how my heart finds stories people want to hear or read about.  It was the very skill that got me on the Country’s #1 rock morning radio show in Philadelphia.

iHeartGlassCity has only just began to evolve.  I hate the design of the site itself, but I love the concept and it’s natural direction.  I am looking for people who can help further grow iHeartGlassCity from authors, graphic artists to a solid sales &  marketing team with an understanding of the concept.  Investors would be speed up the process of evolution tremendously.

My words have been read by over 100,000 people the last two days, most of them living in the 419.   It is a perfect new venue to highlight and showcase businesses trying to reach an evolved audience, that can send people right to their website.

The ingredients are all there, I just need to find the right formula of people.

I vow to continue to use iHeartGlassCity for the powers of good, even if it is bad for some.  I want to show the world the beauty that lies in NW Ohio with our greatest product, the people.  I vow to fight for those who are worthy of the fight.

I vow to fight for Toledo and the areas that surround it.

Thank You if you have ever read, “liked”, tweeted and or shared any of my words.  I appreciate it more than you would ever know.

I am just like most of you who was cursed to be born in this stupidly beautiful place.
