Yesterday during Toledo Fire and Rescue Department’s annual Award and Recognition Ceremony at Government Center Fallen Heroes Privates James Dickman and Steve Machcinski received the Medal of Valor.  Both Dickman and Machcinski had their names added to the TFRD’s Memorial Plaque honoring all of Toledo’s Fallen Firefighters.

This Sunday is Father’s Day.  There are two dads who will not be celebrating this special day the same as they did last year. Stephen Machcinski’s and Jamie Dickman’s fathers will feel their son’s sacrifice once again.  While most of us barbeque and or get-together with our children and Dads, maybe play a little golf, there will be someone missing from the Dickman and Machcinski households.

For Jamie Dickman’s wife and their two children, Sunday will be yet another painful reminder of their Dad’s sacrifice.

I wanted to share with you some of the pictures of the day’s events including some captured by the family of Jamie Dickman.  I asked for their permission to share these pictures after seeing the beautiful smiles of those babies left behind by their dad’s sacrifice.

You can see Jamie’s face in both of his children. Thank you to the Dickman family for allowing us to share

Thank you to the Dickman family for allowing us to share what Jamie has been missing and reminding us all of the sacrifice he and Steve has made.

  1. Christine Dickman says:

Thank you for the gracious article you wrote for Jamie and Stephen. Jamie was my nephew so it is very dear to all of the Dickman family to see he and Stephen honored. And thank you for showing Paige and Grant with their beautiful mother who faces every day with a new set of challenges. Again, thank you.
