I have been asked to host/MC the Jimmy Kare Fundraiser. Please come out and make the difference in a Sylvania Family that has fallen between the cracks.
Jimmy is a 9 year old, fourth grade student at Highland Elementary in Sylvania, Ohio. The son of Larry and Linda Kolopajlo.. Like many other boys his age, Jimmy enjoys Cub Scouts, swimming, video games, and camping with his family. A member of St. Joseph’s parish in Sylvania, Jimmy can often be found cheering for his eleven year old brother, Joey, at cross country, soccer and track events. Unlike other boys his age, however, Jimmy is living with a devastating fatal illness.
Jimmy was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at three years of age. DMD is a fatal disease that eventually affects all voluntary muscles in the body, including the heart and breathing muscles. Jimmy is quickly deteriorating, especially with the recent fracture of his femur as a result of a fall. He is not able to walk more than a few steps, cannot climb stairs, and needs assistance in most activities. Jimmy wears braces on his legs during the day and casts on his legs at night and will need many more assistive devices and accommodations as he battles DMD.
The Toledo Blade just shared Jimmy’s story.
Doors open at 6:30 pm. We have 5 local bands playing at this event (Measure of Time, Endless Envy, John LaPrairie, Whiskey Before Breakfast, Mystic Wood). Tickets are $20. Event is located at Gary’s Barn at 12290 at Sylvania –Metamora Rd, Berkey Ohio. Silent Auction, BYOB
